Why meditation is good for the person with diabetes?
Depression affects more than 80% of people with diabetes. Before you jump to antidepressant medication, try one session of mindfulness meditation. You will be surprised how you feel after this session. After first one you felt like nothing happened. It is normal. First, what you experience is relaxation. Your stress will be melting away from your body.

TYPES OF MINDFULNESS MEDITATION
We have many CD’s which will guide you how to perform this kind of mindfulness meditation. You will concentrate only on your breathing, it very simple technique, you focus your attention on your breathing. Problem: Your mind can generate different thoughts about your work situation, health condition, pain and uncomfortable sensation.

How you practice body scan.
Start from head down to neck, shoulder, right side, left side, right upper arm left upper arm chest, abdomen, right lower extremities and left lower extremities. If you have neuropathic pain try it, acknowledge you pain, try to direct your breath in the part where pain is. Body scan as I’ve said above use by psychologist, psychiatrist. After practice mindfulness meditation for a while you will feel how you are calm and relax. Trust me if you just start, you will experience different thoughts, don’t judge them acknowledge and return you concentration in reality not anymore in fantasy world.

My personal experience with meditation
I prefer mindfulness meditation above sound mind machine. The mindfulness mediation is the real mediation, only because you can bring your mind to calmness and stillness. This is not easy. Many times I was unable to practice meditation because my brain was occupied with other thoughts. I did try to acknowledge and return my concentration back to the breathing, it didn’t work. If you tried mindfulness mediation or any different kind of mediation and you didn’t succeed, try to use sound mind machine. You need to choose one of the models. All of them have similar functions. The light sound mind devices are coming with a brochure. You can select the session that you like. (Example: for sleep)
You wear glasses and headphones. Turn machine on and according to the session you will fall asleep. Even with closed eyes, your brain analyzes and interpreters lights and sounds.
